Heavy rain during Wednesday put the Yass Golf Club’s Women’s Open in jeopardy. Thankfully, a 6am inspection by the Greens Superintendent gave time to clear the debris and declare the course playable. A delayed start was notified to players. Sixty ladies from 16 clubs took to the course, which was in much better condition than anticipated after the heavy rain. Carts were allowed, and everyone was very considerate of the course, keeping off fairways. The one and only bunker was declared GUR (with a Drop Zone in place), which brought a host of cheers. However, it was tough, and the scores reflected that. It turned out to be a great day – the weather held, apart from a brief shower late in the afternoon, and everyone managed to complete their round. Great meal service, and some generous raffles, kept players busy while scores were collated.

The YGC Women’s Open Champion 2025 was Tania Haslam from Queanbeyan. R/Up was Truong Nguyen from Yass, 3rd was Liz Smyth from Queanbeyan. It was a tight competition for the major prize with only three strokes separating 1st and 3rd

The day was sponsored by LAWD Real Estate and Trish Brewer was on hand to present the prizes.

With presentations complete, there was time to finish conversations or catch up with old friends before departure. Yass looks forward to welcoming players back next year. Full details 2025 Women’s Open Day Prize Winners
