On a perfect autumn day at Murrumbidgee, the teams from Yowani and Royal stepped onto the first tee to contest the inaugural Wallace Trophy, marking an important new chapter in the CSGA pennant landscape.
From the outset, the match was tightly contested. At the turn, the result remained finely balanced, with neither side giving an inch. Royal secured the first point on the second nine, but the remaining matches proved exceptionally close. Three duels went all the way to the 18th hole, while another required an additional hole to determine the winner.
Despite the narrow margins, Yowani emerged 4–1 victors, a scoreline that belies the intensity and competitiveness of the contest. Royal pushed their opponents throughout, demanding Yowani’s very best golf to secure their place as the first name engraved on the Wallace Trophy.
The presentation was made by Barbara Wallace, the highly respected CSGA committee pennant coordinator for whom the new trophy is named. Her presence added a fitting sense of occasion to a memorable and historic day for women’s golf in the region.
