Canberra Shield

CANBERRA SHIELD

The trophy is donated by Emily Hurt.

This event commenced in 1990, and was initiated to encourage non-pennant players during the year the opportunity to play matchplay. Teams consist of 8 players, in handicap order and the draw must ensure that the eight members of a club play against the members of different clubs. The maximum number of clubs is set at 10 teams and there must be an even number of clubs for the draw.
All members finish at the 18th, with 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw (square).
At the 2025 Captains Meeting (16 June 2025)  it was agreed that this tournament will be discontinued in 2026.
