The Brindabella Shield final was played on Sunday 21 May between Belconnen and Yowani @ Fairbairn Golf Club. The weather and the course were perfect for what was to be a very tight match.
With Belconnen in the lead 2 /1 and the final 2 pairs coming down the 18th, all square, it was going to be an exciting finish. When Sue Handley, from Yowani, sunk an amazing downhill putt from off the green tying the score at 2/2, the match was now literally down to the final putt. Everyone held their breath as Rebekah Sunlay’s putt tracked all the way straight to the hole and then just lipped out. HJ Kim then sunk her putt to give Belconnen the win 3/2.
A fantastic match played in a wonderful spirit. Congratulations to both teams on a fabulous season.
