CANBERRA SHIELD
The trophy is donated by Emily Hurt.
This event was initiated to give non-pennant players in the Canberra Clubs the opportunity to experience matchplay. The first match was played at Federal in 1990. Each team consists of 8 players in handicap order and the draw must ensure that the eight members of a club play against the members of different clubs. This means that there must be an even number of teams. There is a table to show how this draw is done. |
All members finish at the 18th with 2 points for a win and 1 point for a loss. In 2006, this event was taken over by the CSGA, it having previously been run by the Canberra Clubs’ captains. |
This event has traditionally been restricted to Canberra clubs. If you need to make up the even numbers, Yass is usually invited first and then Goulburn. |
Note that Queanbeyan is included as a Canberra Club |
