The Brindabella Shield final was played on Sunday at Federal Golf Club on a very cold day.   Federal’s hospitality and assistance in holding this pennant event was greatly appreciated.

The tee off commenced at 8.00am, with Gold Creek and Gungahlin Lakes doing battle for the Brindabella Shield.  This pennant division is highly sought after with twelve teams competing for the Shield.  This necessitated two pools of teams and the leaders of Pool A, Gold Creek, played second place leaders of Pool B, Royal Canberra. The winners of this semi were Gold Creek 4.5 to 0.5.   The leaders of Pool B, Moss Vale, played the second place leaders of Pool A, Gungahlin Lakes.  The winners of this semi was Gungahlin Lakes 3.5 to 1.5.  This is how the two northside teams clawed their way to the final and neither Gungahlin Lakes nor Gold Creek had won the Brindabella Shield previously so both Clubs put forward strong teams with very competitive players.   All matches were tough and close however both sides displayed great sportsmanship and comardery. .  The winners of the final was Gungahlin Lakes.3.5 to 1.5 with Gungahlin being soooo excited to win the Shield for the very first time after 22 years of competition!!!  Well done to Gungahlin.
